KFC Jiangmen Xihua, China
With trendy eateries popping up across China, Yum Group as the parent company of KFC, started to relook its décor, as trivial as it may seem, during 2015.
They approached The Great Indoors to develop visuals for their KFC franchises in Jiangmen Yihua and Zhaoqing Xinhu, Guangdong Province.
Building upon their new upscale interiors, The Great Indoors wanted to place less emphasis on transactional values but more on emotional aspects of the KFC brand. So we designed graphics that resonated deeply with the local communities; narrating both their history as the cradle of overseas Chinese migration as well as their cultural celebration.
The graphic designs were hand-painted meticulously throughout the walls. Both art direction and finishing were very important to help steer KFC brand’s wholesome affinity.
This project is an endeavour, that could only be made possible by the sheer dedication of Yum Group's marketing team, The Swimming Pool Studio interior design firm and independent creative individual, Nelson Ng. And it pretty much shored up The Great Indoors fundamentals to sustaining the local heritage in China and its community lineage in Malaysia.
