A trained chemical engineer, Nelissa delved late into shoemaking at Polimoda Institute of Fashion design, where she visited many tanneries, heel and last factories, trade shows and inherited first-hand experiences from Italian craftsmen. In its truest form, Nelissa believes that the only way to approach innovative designing is through mastering the production processes.
In 2011, Nelissa established her namesake label and debuted at the Malaysia International Fashion Week.
As the label grew, she decided to pay attention to details of her brand and studio. Fadli Izmir, the aspiring graphic designer of 360grafikstudio developed her new logo while The Great Indoors focused on her studio showcase.
The studio showcase is split into two phases. In Phase 1, we produced pallet tables, crate shelvings and light chandelier for her working floor.
Pallet tables, with multi-level magazine and shoe material shelvings, were assembled together with glass surface and lock wheels. The glass surface imbues sleekness and also serves as a diffuser when the pallet tables are lit from within during night functions, whereas the lock wheels allow convenient changeable display configurations. Crate shelvings were also used to display shoes in a playful manner. Each industrial crate are made from salvaged and treated wood. Simple lights were used to complement the industrial furnishing.
Phase 2 will commence shortly. Til then, we wish Nelissa all the best as she grows her brand!
